Medical schools play a vital role in training socially responsible doctors who address community health needs. Social accountability—aligning education, research, and service with societal priorities—is increasingly emphasized, alongside social responsibility and sensitivity. Global initiatives, like the 2010 Global Compact, urge schools to adapt to demographic and cultural shifts. In Turkey, TEPDAD developed a national framework to guide schools in fulfilling these responsibilities. Embedding social accountability into accreditation processes ensures that medical education remains responsive, equitable, and aligned with health system needs both nationally and globally.
