Africa faces numerous challenges, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, and political and historical issues affecting advanced nursing education. In Kenya, limited government support and the current education system hinder nurses from pursuing graduate education after obtaining a basic diploma. While distance education exists for other professionals, it is not accessible to working nurses. Nurses seek advanced education to better manage complex health issues. A collaborative model involving hospitals, communities, Kenyan universities, and international partners is proposed to address this need. Distance education is cost-effective and can build nursing capacity in clinical practice, teaching, administration, and research.
